Step 4: Powder

Bobbi Brown’s philosophy on powder: a light dusting of powder sets concealer and foundation for a flawless, long-lasting look.

Bobbi Brown’s Sheer Finish Loose and Pressed Powders are oil-free and ideal for all skin types; taking down the excess shine in the face. The great thing about Bobbi’s powders are that they are finely milled for a sheer, natural-looking finish (it will never look cakey or masky).

How to Choose Powder: When choosing the right kind of powder, you will need to decide between a press or loose powder. This can be determined on your lifestyle and preference. For me, I like a sheer pressed powder because I take it with me on the go and like to add a hint of powder quickly with little to no mess.

You will then need to choose the correct shade of powder. Swatch two to three shades of powder on the side of your face. The right shade with set the foundation without changing its color.

How to Apply Powder: You will first need to decide if you need powder. If you are very dry, just stick to using powder to set your under eye concealer only. You can use an eye blending brush to lightly sweep powder over concealer (as shown below).

Tools for applying face powder:

Powder puff: Smooth, full coverage with a matte finish

Powder Brush: Sheer finish. Can also be used to remove excess powder.
Troubleshooting Powder:

Too ashy: too light, pick a warmer shade
It’s Orange: to dark
It’s flaky: too much, not enough moisture

What’s your favorite powder? Do you prefer pressed or loose?
