If you were in the Chicagoland area this past Saturday and weren’t at the SELF Workout in the Park – you seriously missed out. This sweat-filled day was one of the best all-around workouts EVER (kind of a given). Energize Your Life.
I was lucky enough to meet up with a fun group of Tone It Up ladies from the Chicagoland area before the workout. Look Fabulous. Feel fit. The Workout in the Park offered three different options throughout the day for all fitness levels. The main stage was a non-stop continuous packed with 8 different types of workouts. These included: lower-body, abs, Masala Bhangra (my favorite), martial arts, kick-boxing, dancing, and Tabura (Swahili military endurance and strength training).
On a first come first serve basis, the Reebok Fitness Zone offered CrossFit sessions. If you don’t know what CrossFit means or what is involved…..YOU MUST TRY IT OUT. Expect a full-body workout with explosive moves that include jumping, squatting, pulling, pushing, all at a high intensity.
The Quiet Zone was a section where participants could wind down and release strain in their lower back with yoga moves that focused on opening hips to leave one feeling restored and renewed. Other classes featured 10-spot Pilates and yoga body sculpt.
