Marc Jacobs + Diet Coke

Diet Coke is already a staple in the diet of many women these days and if Marc Jacobs has anything to do with it, Diet Coke cans will now feature polka dots, bow ties, and stiletto heels. The best part about this collaboration is that Marc Jacobs is celebrating female empowerment.

According to WWD, “A flurry of bow ties over a model in a strong-shouldered tuxedo and top hat portray the Eighties in the spirit of Broadway razzle-dazzle, while a sporty-chic look straight from the spring 2013 runway represents the Aughts, surrounded by a shower of polka dots.”

The first cans are set to arrive next month in eleven emerging European markets. Marc Jacobs has designed three cans and three bottles and will roll out three ad campaigns, each to mark a decade in fashion.

Do you think we will see these stylish Diet Coke cans in the U.S. anytime soon?

When I first read this on The Cut, I thought, “what is the point?” Then of course, I thought about sport collaborations and how this is the same for the fashion industry but then again, I don’t see the point in sport collaborations either. Maybe I am just mad because after all, I am a Pepsi girl.
