Back to the Basics: Lip Balm

Is it just me or does everyone get a little fall-crazy when September rolls around? Between my Twitter-feed blowing up about the arrival of Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and oversized comfy sweaters, I’m busy browsing cosmetic counters to find perfect fall lipsticks and eyeshadows. As I was walking through Nordstrom last week, I realized I needed a new lip balm and thought to myself, “it’s time to get back to the basics.” Sometimes we I get so wrapped up in new and trendy beauty products that I forget about basic and important skincare essentials everyone should be using.

Based on recommendations from the Nordstrom skincare specialist, I now have new additions to add to my collection. I think it’s safe to say my lip balm stash will probably last me all winter long.

Below I’ve listed some of my favorites to share with you all. I even got Stephanie from The Naked Canvas to give us the scoop on a lip balm she can’t live without.

•  A touch up stick (Bobbi Brown Touch Up Stick) – whether you have redness, a blemish or need a quick touch up, I can’t  go anywhere without it.

•  Blush (NARS “Orgasm”) – I love NARS blushes. Their pigment is powerful and they have a full range of colors to choose from. I love a pop of color on my cheeks and feel naked without it, whatever the brand may  be.

• Gel eye liner (Bobbi BrownLong-Wear Gel Eyeliner) – Eyeliner is such a staple in my makeup bag. It defines your eyes and can lost all day long.- A good moisturizer (Kate Somerville “Nourish” Moisturizer) – The first step to flawless makeup is a  hydrated face. Everyone needs moisture!!! It’s like a drink of water for your face.

• Hair Treatment (Moroccan Oil Treatment) – A hair treatment is so essential for me with my long, thick, and tangly hair. It helps smooth out my thick hair, tame the frizz and gives the perfect amount of shine without looking greasy.

Fall Beauty Obsessions

 

I am still asking myself how I’ve lived without these products in my life for so long? The Ginger Collection by Origins is honestly fabulous. Kiehl’s Creme de Corps – Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter

Between blizzards and salt that ruins your boots, one of the other things I hate most around winter time is dry skin.  Dry skin not only feels gross, but it doesn’t look very attractive in that LBD, especially when your skin is scaly and peeling.  Recently, I found a solution that takes away all my dry problems.  It is Kiehl’s Creme de Corps – Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter.  This miracle in a jar is filled with Shea and  Jojoba butters leaving your skin feeling silky smooth.

Although I have found great lotions, nothing beats the smoothness and silkiness of your skin after using body butter especially this Kiehl’s one I have been eyeing for a while now.  The consistency is thick so a little does go a long way. With this product you really want to make sure you get it into the skin so keep on rubbing until it’s infused into your skin leaving it feeling and smelling fabulous! Note: Your skin will feel a tiny bit sticky AT FIRST, but after 5 minutes it does go away and your skin will just feel soft and smooth. I like to load up on my body butter right after my shower, this way there is time to dry before I put on my clothes.
